Lake Conroe was impounded in 1973 and has a maximum depth of around 75
feet. Florida Bass were stocked in 1979,88,89,90, and 91. Conroe was once
one of the best bass fisheries in Texas, but the introduction of grass
carp killed all of the hydrilla in the lake. The past few years however
the lake has been making a comeback and some really large bass are being caught.
The lake record stands at 14.91 and was caught in 1997. Lake conroe spans
21,000 surface acres and is located west of Interstate 45 off of hwy 105 near Conroe Texas.
